Switching regulators and switched capacitor converter uses an internal oscillator to set the switching frequency of the output transistor. The value of the switching frequency converter can be determined using some external components to determine the frequency of the noise generated by the converter, and affect the performance of the converter. Some converters allow to adjust the internal oscillator frequency ("frequency adjustment") or synchronized oscillator with an external power supply ("synchronization") to change the switching frequency. In general, by increasing the switching frequency can be used in the converter output stage to smaller components (capacitors, sensors). This may reduce the efficiency of the converter, because of the increased switching loss, unless at the same time to use higher quality components. The good performance of the higher frequency lower than the frequency of the converter converter has a faster transient response. If an on-board there are several converters, it is usually best to sync them to a common source. This can control the entire volume generated noise and to minimize any possible "hit frequency". This problem is usually very important for high-power converter (such as 5W or higher power). In many cases, the switching frequency increase only from its default value.
